The Crown of the Continent Ecosystem (CCE) is one of North America’s largest ecologically intact regions. However, a major threat to the overall integrity of the CCE exists I the form of an invasion and spread of non-native plants. Combating invasive plants in the CCE is complicated because it is and international trans-boundary region managed by more than twenty agencies. For this reason, Glacier National Park’s Crown of the Continent Research Learning Center is creating a user-friendly, ecosystem-specific field guide on invasive plants with potential for ecological impact in protected areas. They are working in concert with the twenty agencies along with other organizations from Alberta, British Columbia, Montana and others. The guide will serve as an educational tool and to build a common strategy to combat non-native plants.
