  Northern Hawk Owl

Glacier National Park Fund has funded three years of a research project to document nesting habits of rare Northern Hawk Owls. So far, 13 nests have been located and 33 birds banded to help answer fundamental questions about this rarely seen boreal species. These 13 nests represent a significant portion (26%) of all Northern Hawk Owl nests documented in the coterminous United States. This research will provide critical information about the ecological conditions necessary to sustain Northern Hawk Owl populations.
