  Bighorn Sheep

Fifteen bighorn sheep were collared with GPS-type radio collars in November of 2002 as part of a project that investigated habitat use, demographics and movement of bighorn sheep on the eastern side of Glacier National Park. The knowledge gained from this study was used to estimate the impacts of recreational usage, fires and poaching have on the population of bighorn sheep in Glacier. A better understanding of these relationships will help the Park devise an appropriate and effective management plan.
